Special Participant Members
The ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group (ECOG-ACRIN) offers the Special Participant Member category to accommodate the participation of institutions in select activities. Participation is usually in the area of patient enrollment to clinical trials. For example, many cancer screening and surveillance trials need to have widespread involvement from a large number of radiology groups to meet patient enrollment goals. This classification also accommodates engagement with institutions for the provision of highly-specialized trial-specific resources or expertise.
Special Participant Members are usually stand-alone institutions; however, some may have Affiliate and Sub-Affiliate sites of their own.
Requirements and Benefits:
- For enrollment of patients into clinical trials, assign at least six accrual credits per year to ECOG-ACRIN
- Although there is no requirement for scientific or administrative leadership, ECOG-ACRIN encourages personnel from Special Participant Member institutions to serve in these roles
Important Note
With ECOG-ACRIN’s flexible membership structure, Special Participants may hold a grant from the National Cancer Institute as a Lead Academic Participating Site (LAPS); however, this is NOT a membership requirement. Visit the NCI website to learn more about LAPS.
