Constantine A. Gatsonis, PhD

Constantine A. Gatsonis, PhD, has been affiliated with the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group (ECOG-ACRIN) as a statistical leader since 1999. Under his leadership, the ECOG-ACRIN Biostatistics Center, located at the Brown University School of Public Health in Providence, Rhode Island, oversees all of the Group's medical imaging research. One notable example is his role as lead statistician for the Tomosynthesis Mammographic Imaging Screening Trial (TMIST).

Dr. Gatsonis first became part of the Group as the Network Statistician for the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) when the network was founded in 1999. The Digital Mammography Imaging Screening Trial (Pisano ED, N Engl J Med, 2005) and the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST Research Team, N Engl J Med, 2011) occurred under his methodologic leadership. He was the lead statistician for the definitive study of breast MRI (Bluemke DE, JAMA, 2004). When ACRIN merged with the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group in 2012 to form the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group, Dr. Gatsonis became the Group Statistician, Imaging, for ECOG-ACRIN.

He is a professor of biostatistics at Brown University. He works extensively on the development of statistical methods for the evaluation of diagnostic tests and biomarkers.
