A higher body mass index (BMI) was associated with an elevated risk of breast cancer recurrence and worse survival in patients with early breast cancer and of African ancestry, but not in those of European ancestry. This secondary analysis from the phase III trial E5103, was led by Tarah J. Ballinger, MD (Indiana University), and was recently published in the journal Cancer (February 2022).
