Breast Cancer
EA1241
Extended Clinical Follow-up and Biospecimen Collection for Patients Enrolled in TAILORx and RxPONDER: A Companion Protocol
STATUS: ACTIVE
Description
The purpose of this study is to retrieve tissue samples from individuals with breast cancer who previously participated in the TAILORx (PACCT-1) or RxPONDER (S1007) cancer treatment trials. These individuals had their breast tumors removed by surgery and underwent genomic testing with the Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score®. The study will include participants with a who experienced recurrence of cancer after their initial treatment. It will also include participants in the RxPONDER trial who were screened for the trial but were not followed in the study because they had a high recurrence score of 26-00. The retrieved tissue samples and corresponding clinical data will be used for future research aimed at understanding why breast cancer recurs despite personalized treatment based on genomic testing.
The ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group designed this trial and is conducting it with funding from the National Cancer Institute, through its National Clinical Trials Network, and from the Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs.

Dr. Rima Patel discusses study EA1241, which is building a biobank of breast cancer tissue samples for future research to help understand why breast cancer comes back despite treatment.
