Bertagnolli, MD, a professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School and group chair of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology stands poised to become the first woman and the first chair of a clinical trials cooperative group to be named director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Today, President Joe Biden announced his intent to appoint Dr. Bertagnolli as the 16th NCI director.
