Main Members are institutions with ongoing sustained research involvement in the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group (ECOG-ACRIN). They retain membership over multiple years, provided that they remain in good standing. This entails passing an annual institutional evaluation conducted by the Principal Investigator Committee and complying with a formal audit and quality control process.
Main Members fall into two categories. Read below to learn more.
These are institutions that provide scientific and administrative leadership to ECOG-ACRIN and participate in studies across the Group’s entire research portfolio. They can be a cancer center, university medical center, health system, community hospital, or community-based program sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Community-based programs are known as NCI Community Oncology Research Programs (NCORPs) and Minority/Underserved NCORPs.
Requirements and Benefits:
These are institutions that provide scientific leadership to ECOG-ACRIN and participate in selected Group studies that align with their scientific interests. They can be a cancer center, university medical center, or health system that makes basic, translational and/or clinical science contributions to ECOG-ACRIN. The Group defines this membership status more by scientific contribution than patient trial enrollment metrics. The Group recognizes that many scientists do not treat patients in the clinical setting but are able to contribute scientific ideas and provide specialized research expertise.
Requirements and Benefits:
Important Note: With ECOG-ACRIN’s flexible membership structure, Main Members may, but are not required, to hold a grant from the National Cancer Institute as a Lead Academic Participating Site (LAPS). Visit the NCI website to learn more about LAPS.
